Specially designed for Sony camera series, the STC Cine Mist Filter delicately handles highlights, providing a natural and subtle softness without excessive effects. It gently brightens the shadow areas, maintaining contrast, and effectively mitigates the overly sharp and harsh feeling introduced by high-resolution digital devices. The result is a naturally soft and clear image, maintaining clarity without blurring, while adding a subtle cinematic quality.
CINE MiST filters are built upon our durable Ultra Layer® coating technology. STC Optics is focused on producing the tools so creators can focus on telling their stories in the most difficult shooting environments with zero vignetting menwhile protecting your camera sensor.

Installation Instructions
Due to varying QC standards across camera brands, even models of the same brand may have manufacturing tolerances. If the internal filter frame doesn’t fit properly, please contact STC support or headquarters. Do not force installation.
Disclaimer
STC’s Clip-in filters are innovative and rely on the camera’s internal structure for stability. Minor marks from installation may occur but do not affect camera functionality or warranty. STC will not cover these marks or offer compensation. Please consider this before purchasing if reselling your camera is a concern.
All our filters use STC’s exclusive nanocoating technology for the best optical quality. Our Sensor Protector, Cine Mist, Neutral Density (ND), Astro (light pollution) series, IR-Pass (590nm/720nm/850nm) and UV-IR cut filters all carry a double-sided hydrophobic, anti-smudge and antistatic nanocoating to enhance or block transmission in all kinds of particular spectrums.
STC CineMist Filter applies special etching on the surface of the lens, causing the light to undergo subtle changes to soften the image without sacrificing detail and contrast. It is commonly used in the Hollywood film industry, to soften landscape and still life pictures, creating a vintage lens-like atmosphere.
Mainly used in portrait photo or video to express dreamy beauty, psychedelic rock, or nostalgic storytelling atmospheres. It also optimizes the texture for scenes such as Vlog interviews, personal videos, and commercial livestreams. Using Cine Mist Filter offers a "what you see is what you get" effect, directly physically optimizing the image and reducing skin flaws and defects in the early stages so less post-production will be needed. It keeps clarity in the eyes, hair, and expressions, while slightly diffusing bright reflections in areas like bright backlighting, neon LED lights from street lamps, and other highlights. This subtle softening effect gives the overall image a sensual charm. It also softens the sharp flash light.

Facing the camera sensor upward, you can install the clip filter with only hand or our magnetic tooling (included) into the camera body in front of the shutter curtain. Screw on the lens and you can start shooting without extra setting needed. The clip filter stays firmly in front of your camera shutter so it can protect your sensor at the same time, it avoids dust and dirt while changing lenses outdoor. It’s easier and less risky to clean the clip filter than to clean your sensor.
STC Interchangeable clip filter made of aerospace grade aluminum alloy, metallic mist black anodizing and chamfer processing made it gently and firmly lies in camera body and will not abrade the inner parts. The patented glass assembling design is tolerable to thermal expansion which reduces glass flatness change, thereby preventing telephoto images focusing
The usage scenarios are not limited to portrait creation. When used in landscapes and in environments with direct light, Cine Mist filter can be brought into play. Especially when using under diffusing light and overflow lights, it can bring richer light to the picture. It also reduces excessive digital sharpness of ultra-high resolution camera or lenses without losing detail.

Under the same ambient light, with fixed exposure settings, photograph using STC CineMist filters of varying softness.
This four photos allow for comparing and discerning changes in direct light, reflected light, and diffused light within the scene.
There is only one direct light source change in the environment, the photo exposure setting is also fixed.
When shooting with the STC CineMist filter of the same softness, changes in light will also directly affect the degree of light expansion and softening.
Therefore, choosing the softness of the STC CineMist filter must actually be based on the overall light source and state of the light!
